I finally found a version of Algebra that makes sense to me.

Great job! Now, how do you stop him before he scrambles the rest of the way up the hypotenuse, plunging to his tragic and untimely death at the bottom of the empty abyss to the right? Or does he simply disappear into infinity? Well, I suppose that's one way to get rid of an X. There must be others, but I've never done the math.

Well since I understand economics better than I understand Algebra, I think rather than shimmying the hypotenuse, I'd just increase the supply, therefore decreasing the demand, wait until the whole thing did a leftward shift and then just reach up and grab him.
